If you have found yourself wishing you had an ecommerce website or are starting to build one, you are not alone.
As many businesses have had to close their doors and are only able to open if you sell essential items more and more businesses are going online.
The unprecedented demand for online shopping saw companies like Holland and Barratt become weeks and weeks behind on orders and have seen some companies planning to reopen stores sooner than necessary as they do not have e-commerce sites to back up their sales.
e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Etsy have seen a definate rise since the beginning of the year.
According to betakit.com "shopify has released its financial results for Q1 2020, the period which ended March 31, 2020. With a total revenue of $470 million, Shopify saw a 47 percent increase from the comparable quarter in 2019. All numbers are in USD."
In the May 6th 2020 press release by Etsy they have indicated more growth "Total revenue was $228.1 million for the first quarter of 2020, up 34.7% year-over-year, driven by growth in both Marketplace and Services revenue."
So is building an e-commerce website so difficult and why have we not done it before?
Choosing a designer or platform is important you need to have the capicity to house all your wonderful products as well as having a site that is safe and secure.
There are things to think about i.e you need to make the site easy to get around and all the basket elements to work for you. Do you want to send prompts to buyers that have left the page with items in their basket? Do you want to be able to offer different shipping options and costs as well as discount codes?
Over the past few years I have designed a few e-commerce stores and know the importance of ensuring that everything FLOWS!
They don't have to be super expensive to set up and I know we could help you find something for your budget or desires.
Taking your store online is one of the smartest moves you can make and if you already have a website having an e-commerec store to support it just makes sense.
If you are a service based business this applies to you too, being able to offer clients a cource purchase online is a no brainer and people will be chomping at the bit to keep their brains active as lockdown and furlough continue. Many of us are looking at ways to keep going, take fitness classes, how many can you log onto now and these types of things 10 years ago were nonexistent. We had to go to the gym to do a workout class, now we can just log on to our laptops and have subscription options and free options all over the internet, facebook, zoom, youtube etc..
During this crazy time and for the future there is no need to panic, we must all adapt our way of working and try different avenues to create revenue.
